With a team of 81 professional teaching artists, CAPE has made a significant impact in the education landscape. Throughout the years, CAPE has reached an impressive milestone, delivering 14,612 hours of arts education to students. This extensive investment of time allows students to explore their artistic potential and embrace creativity in a hands-on manner. By collaborating with skilled teaching artists, students are provided with a unique learning experience that goes beyond traditional classroom settings. One notable individual within the CAPE network is Scott Sikkema. As an accomplished arts and education leader, planner, researcher, writer, and consultant, Scott brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the organization. His passion for arts integration in education has led to numerous successful initiatives and collaborations. CAPE proudly partners with various educational organizations in Chicago, such as Young Chicago Authors. Through this partnership, select Chicago Public Schools receive free literary arts residencies, where students work closely with a YCA Teaching Artist. This program provides students with the opportunity to express themselves through writing and fosters their creativity and literary skills. Another exciting collaboration CAPE engages in is with Lit & Luz. This annual project supports the creation of new collaborative artworks between writers, visual artists, and musicians from Chicago and Mexico. The months-long endeavor encourages cultural exchange and artistic exploration, resulting in extraordinary and thought-provoking pieces.
