    Mining & Reclamation Department The Mining & Reclamation Department is an integral part of the Alabama Department of Labor's Abandoned Mine Land (AML) program. As part of the program, the department administers and oversees the Abandoned Mine Reclamation Program in Alabama. Our team is dedicated to reclaiming and restoring abandoned mine lands to ensure the safety of the environment and surrounding communities. Our mission is to protect the environment and promote the responsible use of mineral resources through effective regulation and reclamation efforts. By implementing innovative solutions, we strive to mitigate the environmental impact caused by past mining practices. Our ultimate goal is to restore abandoned mine lands to a safe and productive state for future generations to enjoy. Through collaboration with various stakeholders, including the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE), we develop comprehensive reclamation plans that meet both regulatory requirements and environmental standards.
