Texas Folklife Resources: Supporting and Preserving the Living Traditions of Texas Texas Folklife is a non-profit organization based in the Lone Star State that is passionately dedicated to preserving and presenting the diverse cultures and living heritage of Texas. With a strong focus on community well-being and cultural preservation, Texas Folklife endeavors to foster the appreciation and understanding of folk arts and traditions. At Texas Folklife, we understand the importance of celebrating and safeguarding the unique cultural practices that define Texas. Through our various initiatives and programs, we strive to ensure that these traditions are cherished and passed on to future generations. One of our notable programs is the annual Apprenticeships in the Folk and Traditional Arts Program. This program provides opportunities for artist mentors to impart their knowledge and skills to aspiring apprentices. With awards of up to $3,000, our aim is to support approximately eight artist mentors each year, enabling them to offer personalized one-on-one training. By doing so, we contribute to the preservation and continuation of traditional art forms across the state. In addition to our apprenticeship program, we are excited to showcase the projects of our 2023 Community Folklife Fellows. These fellows are currently engaged in creating audio stories that explore the themes of healing, dance, rituals, foodways, and more. This initiative not only highlights the richness of Texas' cultural tapestry but also provides a platform for the voices and experiences of diverse communities to be heard. As an organization, Texas Folklife takes great pride in the impact we have made in promoting and safeguarding the living traditions of Texas. Our commitment to community engagement and collaboration allows us to connect with individuals, organizations, and communities across the state. By fostering a sense of pride and appreciation for the cultural heritage of Texas, we contribute to the overall well-being and vitality of our communities.
