Established in 1916, OSSA serves as the voice for Oregon's 36 elected Sheriffs and their staff. At OSSA, we take pride in being the title sponsor and a proud supporter of the Oregon State Sheriffs' Association. We strive to ensure the safety and well-being of the citizens we serve, working diligently to address and improve various aspects of community safety. Unfortunately, we have faced challenges in the past, including the case of John Bishop, a former director of OSSA, who was found guilty of embezzling over $13,000 from the organization. We have taken necessary measures to ensure such incidents do not occur again, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and maintaining the trust of our members and the community. Despite these challenges, OSSA remains steadfast in its mission of safeguarding the interests of Oregon residents through effective law enforcement practices. We continue to collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies, policymakers, and community stakeholders to develop strategies that ensure public safety and enhance community well-being. As an organization, we are dedicated to providing support and resources to our Sheriffs and their staff. We believe in the power of collective efforts and information sharing, enabling our members to stay up-to-date with the latest developments in law enforcement, technology, and community policing initiatives. With our strong leadership and commitment to excellence, the Oregon State Sheriffs' Association looks forward to a safer and more secure future for all Oregonians. Together, we will continue to work towards building thriving communities that prioritize safety, justice, and the well-being of our citizens.
