We want to alert all trademark applicants and registrants to exercise caution and be aware of these fraudulent schemes. It is important to remember that official correspondence related to trademark applications and registrations is usually issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) or authorized legal representatives. Valid communication from the USPTO will always include official USPTO contact information and will not demand payment for services that have not been authorized or requested.
To protect yourself from falling victim to these scams, we advise the following:
