About A Foundation for Kids

A Foundation for Kids A Foundation for Kids is a non-profit organization founded with the purpose of supporting disadvantaged families with children or youth facing illness or disability. Our goal is to provide assistance, resources, and support to help improve the lives of these children and their families. One of our key initiatives is the Angel Hair for Kids program, which provides wigs or hair prostheses for children and youth experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions. Founded in 2002 by Roslyn Yearwood and Amalia Ruggiero, this special program is unlike any other and is the only one of its kind in Canada. At A Foundation for Kids, we understand the emotional and psychological impact that hair loss can have on children. With the Angel Hair for Kids program, we aim to restore their confidence and self-esteem by providing them with custom-made, durable wigs or hairpieces that look and feel just like their natural hair. Through the generosity of donors and the support of dedicated volunteers, we are able to create these high-quality hairpieces free of charge for the children in need. Our team works closely with the families to ensure that each wig or hair prosthesis is custom-made to fit the individual child's needs, providing a comfortable and snug fit. Not only do we provide tangible support for these children and their families, but we also offer a safe and welcoming environment where they can connect with others who are going through similar experiences. We believe in the power of community and strive to create a network of support that extends beyond the provision of wigs. In addition to the Angel Hair for Kids program, A Foundation for Kids offers various other resources and programs to assist families in need. We provide financial assistance, educational resources, and access to medical and therapeutic services to help alleviate the burdens faced by these families. We rely on the generosity of individuals, corporations, and community organizations to continue our important work.
