Professional experience
Since opening for business back in 2009, Above Grade Educational Services, has been associated with a high level of quality and professionalism. That’s largely because of our concerted effort to deepen the connections we have within the community locally, nationally and internationally, and to continuously improve the personalized services we provide. We only allow a limited number of client spaces for our services. This allows us to focus on quality, not quantity and ensures that each of our clients gets the best individual attention needed.

I started using services for ACT prep. Wow, I am learning more than I thought I would. I am excited to take the September test. During our mock sessions I have already gone up from a 24 to a 26 composite! I am hoping to get a 29 and the test and I feel confident Ms. Jocelyn will help me get there.

I started using services for English classes. I use to be so nervous about speaking. I often would think I would mess up and seem stupid. Jocelyn helped with my confidence level. She helped me realize that it is OK if I mess and to try my best. Jocelyn is more than a teacher or tutor, she is a mentor and friend.

I contacted Jocelyn in a panic to help with my daughter's ACT score. She calmly helped decrease our anxiety and told us the best options to help my daughter raise her score. With an intense study plan, Jocelyn gave my daughter strategies and confidence for her next test. We started with a 19 composite score. We were able to increase to a 25! A 6 point increase made a major difference. We are SO grateful to have had Jocelyn's help.

I am using Above Grade for online Spanish lessons. I like Laura's approach and she pushes me to speak during the lessons. She is an awesome teacher. 5 stars to her!

My team and I focus on quality and not quantity. We aren't the cheapest company as we believe teachers should be compensated for their hard work. We aren't the most expensive company as we believe in being fair and modest to our customers.
Typically, a client will call and tell us the areas they or their student is having struggled. We will arrange an appointment for a comprehensive assessment. During the first meeting, the assessment targets the strengthens and weaknesses of the student. From there, we are then able to create an individualize learning plan.
I have taught and tutored now for almost ten years, in addition to obtaining M.Ed in Education My certifications include elementary (all the content areas), Special education p-12th grades, Reading endorsement K-5 and ESOL education p-12th grades. I am currently seeking my doctorate degree in Education.
As teachers, we wanted to find work where we can work with students individually.
We work with all kinds of students with different types of abilities, capabilities, and exceptionalities.
Make sure your instructor is knowledgeable of how to teach content. Also, make sure your tutor is qualified in the areas you need them to tutor. Lastly, be sure to ask your tutor their plan of action for helping you or your student succeed.
